If you live between 2 hospitals & one is (umm) better than the other - does it matter which one you go to in an emergency?

That's it basically

The one I like is slightly further away but possibly quicker to get to

I had this feeling you had to go to the nearest one

Does it matter?

It isn't important now but it might be if tonight goes as badly as last night

DD has started to see a consultant at the hospital further away but I don't know if it's relevant

I would go to the further away hospital if you can get there safely.

My dd's hospital isn't local enough for me to go to in an emergency; I usually ring them and give them the heads up that we're off to our local.

Hope dd has a decent night.

We are inbetween 2. There is one I just perfer (not that I'm an afficionado of A&E departments!). We gauge which one to go to, depending on the traffic usually.

If it's an absolute emergency, then you should go to the one you can get to more quickly.

In your case, if your dd's notes are at one hospital, then I would go there.

Thanks

I think 12 miles vs 19 miles is really a no-brainer

But I thought was this thing that said you had to go to your nearest hospital

No it doesn't matter, the 2nd time my DS2 needed A&E I took him to one slightly further away and a different Trust as my MIL works there and no one asked why. On fact on Friday a trip to the GP ended with the doctor ringing an ambulance for my DS2 (nothing dramatic but iffy breathing and sleepy and we are 40 mins plus from nearest A&E so GP wasn't happy for me to drive him). When I mentioned to the paramedic where my MIL worked, she said if I'd told them before we set off they would have taken us to that hospital if I'd wanted!

you can go to the one you want to. I am in the same situation in Northwest. Its either Stepping Hill or Wythenshawe and to me there is only one winner there. Choose the best its your health.

Sorry I didn't get back to you Alypaly - it's been a bit of a week

I did go to the better one
