My son who is nearly 3 has just recieved a letter from doctors inviting him for the swine flu jab, but he has egg allergy and i heard that it is not to be given to egg allergy sufferers because it is cultured on eggs. I rang the docs and they said no he cant have it so i cancelled the appointment. I have since seen some info. that there is a jab that isnt cultured on eggs called Celvapan. Does anyone know how I should go about getting him done with the Celvapan jab and also is it really important to get him done at all??? Also has anyones kids had this jab? or have a child with egg allergy and are in same situation as us? any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

My 1 yr old has egg allergy and I'm taking my 3 year old for the vaccine tomorrow so I'm going to ask the doc about it. My 1 yr old is having his MMR in hospital so I assume he'll have to get his swine flu vaccine in hospital too. Gosh.. I don't even know whether giving them the vaccine is the right thing to do??? Argh! Everyone says different things.
Anyway.. I'll let you know what the doctor says about it.

My ds has an egg allergy and I mentioned this to my surgery when they first offered us the vaccine. They told me it wasn't a problem to have him vaccinated with Celvapan but they would need advance notice to order it in.

I read a few things and also asked advice here too as I had initial decided I didn't want to vacinate and then wavered. The things I read seemed to suggest that a lot of people prefer the idea of Celvapan.

However, in the end I decided not to vacinate as I am not particularly worried about swine flu. But obviously that is a very personal decision and you may feel differently when you have read the plentiful information out there!
