little blue I have been just like you, drinking for stress releif/to be socialble etc. I am 4 months into abstinence. I stopped because I was afraid that if I didnt stop then I would never be able to. I dont know how log I will not drink for, every day I just think that I wont drink today...

I feel MUCH better. I am more productive, feel healthier - have started exercising regularly again ( have lost just over one stone) .

My advice would be, don;'t look too far ahead. Make plans for today only. get in some interesting things to drink eg soft drinks/ herbal tea ( whatever floats your boat) and find something to do with your hands in the evening....

good luck

Littleblue, I to have just decided to stop drinking. It has only been 4 days, so far so good but it's coming up to the weekend, and I know I will struggle. My problem with drink is that once i start i don't stop until I pass out. The turning point was a lunch date that didn't stop at that, and the rest I can't remember, which scares me. I feel very paranoid and tired, but I'm hoping this feeling will go soon. I must stop for the sake of my family and my health.

apple 100 well done 4 days that is brilliant.Isn't it nice to wake up with a clear head and no paranoia palpitations. I had my last drink last sat so this is first week in prob 2 years I hve not had a drink atll. I plan to have a very small moderate drink tommorrow with a friend .then to keep it to no midweek drinking at. You have done so well good luck over the weekend.I know it is so hard.

Is anyone out there re. this link? Am morning one without feeling pants. No drink last night. Needed to be up at 5 for flight to Scotland. Up and at em no problem. One day at a time. But I've tried so many times before. Need support from those who've done it successfully. Don't want to be tee total but once I start I almost never know when to stop. Lots of nights I don't remember what I watched on tv or when I went to bed.

Momma check out the brave babes thread on the relationships page, I've not posted there myself but have read some of the threads and think that they would be a great help to you
