Has anyone ever had shingles, but there wasn't much of a rash?

I've had a pain in my shoulder blade for a couple of weeks, it's sharp and sore and my skin felt 'funny' (medical term). On Thursday I had a horrible headache/migraine, my jaw was sore as well as my face.

My back and down my arm was sore and burning today and I have a small rash where my shoulder is sore.

I know you can have shingles that don't 'come out' because my aunt did.

Any thoughts?

My shingles started with one small spot on my head, my mum just had a couple of small insect bite sized spots on her shoulder blade.

My rash came out eventually but never looked anything like those pictures you see if you google shingles. If you think you might have it get to the doc's because the quicker you can get the anti virals the better.

Mine was a burning pain, and like electric shocks as the nerve fired off.

Thanks Kk, I was looking at the pics and everyone is covered in them. My mum thinks I have them.

I had shigles when I was about 18 and all I had was a rash about the sie of (an old) 50p

Both my kids had shingles with a small rash too

I don't remember having any other symptoms either

I've got burning pains across my shoulder and down my arm. My xbf had them and iirc he didn't have many either.

I had shingles last month and had a rash just a bit bigger than a 50p coin. The rash was like raised spots, some of which were blistered. I had shooting pains along the nerve it affected - no burning though. Sounds like you may have shingles too - go see a doc but in the meantime try taking some painkillers to dull the pain. I was advised to take co-codamol or ibuprofen

Thanks I've just taken some Syndol and I am going to bed. I think I'll phone the out of hours Dr tomorrow. I'm back at work next week and I work with children who have very compromised immune systems, so I want to get checked out.

It's bloody sore

Oo-er I wouldnt go back to work til oyu've seen a doctor if i were you, given the children you work with. I was told i was infectious until the spots had healed over so anyone who hadn't had chicken pox could catch it from you if they came into contact with your rash. My doc told me you usually need 2 to 3 wks off work with shingles. Take it easy

I've got 3 spots . Dr said it was too late for anti virals, they need to be given within 48 hours. I had a really sore head last thursday and I think that was the start of it.

I was supposed to go back to work today, I'm not too upset I have to admit . I'll get them really bad for saying that, now.
