When to see a doctor

I have had this god awful chesty cough/cold for around a fortnight now ... my dd was so kind in giving it to me. She was treated for a chest infection, and bar a heavy cold, she seems to be alot better.

Now my question is .. at what point should I see a doctor?

I am coughing practically constantly, but fortunately it doesnt keep me awake once I finally get to sleep :p

I do have mild asthma so taking my inhalers for that.

I do cough up yellow(ish) mostly white phelgm (sp). I feel ok if a little tired and achey from all the coughing.

Should I tough it out or take myself to see the doc?

Also any tips on how to get a 4 & half yr old well again? For the past month she has had 2 bouts of sickness (24hrs), followed by a cold, then chest infection and now she has another cold and is really feeling it i think this time round. Her stomach is slightly upset and she does say her tummy and her throat hurts, although i am not sure if she is playing on it. The poor love is in a real vile mood, and there seems to be nothing that i can do to help her

my boys 17 and 21 have had the same for 3 weeks..cough ...cough all day and night and heads are full of gunge. Got ABx from doc for them as they are full of green gunk and DS2 has got an exam on Jan 14th and i want him to feel well. All the mucus has made his top teeth ache so i think his sinuses are infected. if you feel rubbish go and see doc...but normally if mucus is clear, there is no secondary infection...Its probably a viral cough.

Get some pholcodeine linctus...its really good
