Does your tongue look different when you are ill?

When I get ill my tongue looks like it has been chopped up the sides with those crimping scissors. Not sore or anything, just doesn't look smooth.

Have it just now along with a sore throat...why is this?!

its probably the indentations from your teeth...are you a tad stressed. When you are stressed you push your tongue forwards and it flutes the sides of your tongue. Didnt know this til my dentists informed me.

Had no idea it was caused by teeth! If I google scalloped tongue then the pics are exactly what its like. I always get it when unwell - especially with throaty things.
