starting to lose the plot now - blood on tissue twice, coughed up blood 4 times and now blood in my ear?

I have a list of symptoms as long as my arm which the gp has diagnosed as IBS or possible celiacs - I'm having an endoscopy at the end of the month to clarify things.

The latest is that 3 weeks ago I got a really stuffy nose and sore face - just thought it was a sinus thing, upped my fluid and took it easy. A week later the snot was still there along with a lump on the right side of my neck near ear lobe (have glands further down neck that are always up too) and a sensation in my tongue and throat that I can only describe as numb. I've had tonsillitis a million times and it was not a sore throat but a numb throat and back of tongue and swallowing was uncomfortable but not sore.

Anyway after 5 days of this I went to DRs on 23rd to check wasn't an infection (had a temp of 37 so not high but quite high for me) further down somewhere - GP said no idea what it is and no idea what lump is but to take antibotics and come back in 7 days.

Tomorrow is the 7th day, my throat and tongue isn't numb but the lump is still there, but smaller. In the last 7 days I have had quite a lot of blood on toilet tissue when going to loo, coughed up blood and just saw blood in my right ear.

Is this just connected to the snot or should I be going to the GP? Feel like a big hypochondriac and can't trust my own judgement!

Infected sinuses can bleed - if you have had a very bad cold it's not that unusual to bleed from the nose, mouth and ear when you cough as it dislodges bits.

Bum related blood loss which is red is usually piles. If it looks like coffee grinds it's more worrying, or of course if it is profuse.

By the end of the month I assume you mean January (otherwise you mean within two days?)

If you have a swollen gland in your neck your tongue can feel numb as the nerves can be put under pressure by the lump. It's not necessarily serious.

But if you are waiting till January to see a consultant, I would go back to the GP and just say you are increasingly worried.

WWMC, sorry yes end of Jan - I think this is the soonest can be seen I have been waiting since November. The hospital I am going to is not my local one either as that had a longer wait.

Blood on toiler paper was bright red but quite a lot of it, I thought my period had come early. Will have a look at symptoms of piles now.

Thanks!

Have you any bruises, navyeylash?

navyeyelasH · 29/12/2009 18:20

Jalopy I'm always covered in bruises with no idea of how they got there but I've had a few different blood tests and they are all fine.

It's definitely worth a re-visit to your GP, navy.

I will give them a buzz tomorrow then - is the 31st a normal working day or BH?
