I have suffered from IBS for the last 10 years or so. the only time it completely leaves me is when i am pg, however, it has been much better in the past few years...until the last ocuple of weeks where i am getting pain that doubles me over. I had a second CS 4 moths ago - could this be why? is there anything i can do? i am not taking anything as i am bf.

Hi - I am interested in what you are saying as I had never had IBS UNTIL I had a c-section and in fact I think it actually started after my 2nd section(in late 2007). I had just put it down to stress as I have had a pretty stressful couple of years but could it be anything to do with the surgery? I have never had it really badly but it comes and goes. Will wait and see if anyone else has a more medically informed opinion.

Mine started after my 1st section. OB said it was fairly common as the abdomen etc had been 'messed with'. It started with severe stomach cramps for the year after the section. Was prob destined to get it anyway as my mum and gran have it too.

thanks. i wondered if it was anything to do with adhesions or something. the surgeon said i had adhesions on my bladder from 1st section. i thought maybe the pain i am getting is some sort of adhesion with my bowels? or am i being over dramamtic ?

My bladder was adherent after 1st section also. Was told not a problem though. Good news is that the pain went away after a year or so and I went on to have a further 2 c- sections and 2 normal births which didn't make it any worse. Since then it has been OK really just a minor inconvienience.
