ive had it for about 6 months now - its a dull stabbing pain in the centre of mychest and it scares me - i just had a gastroscopy done to rule out ulcers and hernia - also had a chest xray done a few months ago and none showed up anything - i mean what else can i be checked for its not normal i know that and i feel im getting on my gp's nerves with this .
its worse when i bend over and all the doctors can say is lose weight ,but i want to know what is causing it???
anyone got any ideas

what weight are you...do you think it could be weight related. It doesnt sound like it is,the fact that it hurts when you bend over, That does suggest a hernia to me but you say they have ruled that out.

I have had the same sort of thing with my Gp for 3 years. I kept going back saying i wasnt well, had so many tests...all normal....felt like a hypochondriac....but i knew something was wrong. Did alot of my own research in the end as i started to suffer with Chronic fatigue and in the end i asked for a specific blood test, and lo and behold it came back positive. mine was for chronic parvo virus.

Can you remember what your blood tests were for.

candycanesonthexmastree · 14/12/2009 08:01

i am overweight im 5.2 and 16 stone and the gp does keep saying to lose weight but i do find it difficult other than that im healthy - i walk everywhere as i dont drive and dont smoke or drink ,its worse in the mornings and its there almost constantly.
the pain is sort of where the cups of the bra starts at the top on the right hand side, sometimes its so bad i think im having a heart attack ( melodramatic sorry)
i know this pain is not normal but how can i get the gp to believe me .
i know it cant be serious as ive had it for a long time but still its scary

Have you had a fasting blood test done? I recently had similar to you, I had chest pains and pins and needles in my left hand and I was scared!! Turns out for some reason as yet unknown that I have low potassium and this gives you alot of the symptoms associated with a heart attack. This in turn also cocked-up my usually good cholesterol level to 6.8!!! so I've cut out dairy other than semi-skimmed milk on my cornflakes and I feel alot better already. Took a potassium supplement for 3 days and have to have another fasting blood test tomorrow, hope this helps you a bit

thats interesting susue
im not sure what bloods ive had done - there was quite a few,i do have a raised colesterol
i have made another appointment with my gp for tomorrow to discuss it but dont hold any hope of a resolution

i think it sounds as if you have got gall stones lurking and niggling. get doc to do a CRP,amylase ad liver enzymes....pain just where the bra starts(do you mean the bottom of the bra cups)and feeling like a heart attack is classic gall stones or a stone in the pancreatobiliary ducts.

I had my gall bladder out in june this year after ringing an ambulance when i collapsed on the floor thinking i was having a heart attack. I had over 200 stones which had not got picked up on xray or ultrasound over the previous 3 years. I have lost faith in doctors after this incident.
