Do I really have to get ABs with a kidney infection?

I hate going to the drs and hate taking ABs. I've had cystitus, which did seem to be getting better, but stopped drinkign cranberry and no I have pain which I suspect is a mild kidney infection. Lsao feel shivery, slightly sick and basically exhausted!

I'm drinking litres of cranberry, is there any chance it will clear itself up?

I don't know if it would clear up on its own, but I certainly wouldn't risk it. You sound poorly already, and it will likely get worse.

Off to the doctors with you (Yes I am a bossy old bag )

Chops I'm afraid I agree with kurri. I get fairly frequent kidney infections and left to develop they can turn very nasty indeed. I have needed hospital treatment a few times for them.

Go to the doctors it sounds as if it is getting worse not better. (Also of a bossy nature.)

Might not be a kidney infection?

I had one this time last year and the main symptom was horrendous aching/pain in the region of my kidneys. I didn't have any cystitis or feel sick.

Doc prescribed ABs, felt better within a few days. Whatever it is it doesn't sound like something you should ignore.

Make an appointment .

I've jsut got my pjs on and am off to bed! Only just got these messages. I've jsut checked and the drs is closed so unlikely to see anyone today. (crap surgery with limited hours)

If it still hurts tomo I will go then, I promise!

Yes, you should have AB's, if it is an infection and you don't get it treated it could potentially cause kidney damage - get thee to a geepee.

Well, when I had a kidney infection, I ended up on a drip in hospital for four days, feeling terrible.
So yes, go to the Drs (or A&E)
