Any ideas how I can unblock my ears?

I have a cold and I am feeling really rotten.

Yesterday one of my ears went a bit funny, like I was underwater, my hearing went odd and it felt blocked.

Today both ears are sore and I have the underwater blocked feeling in both.

Went to the pharmacist, described my symptoms and I got contac. I took one about 3 o clock, it made no difference and now I can't take anything else for 12 hours (well 9 now)

I've tried blowing my nose lots, holding my nose and blowing. Goggling has suggested squeezing onion juice into my ears but I think I will give that a miss, but all other suggestions gratefully received!

If it's an infection this is won't work, if it's a build up of wax then hydrogen peroxide (about 5%) use a dropper, fill your ear and wait for the fizz. Leave it in there til it stops fizzing.

Infection means going to the GP and getting anti-biotics or just waiting it will eventually go away (after possibly causing agonising pain).

I don't think it is wax, it is definitely part of the cold.

I'll see how it goes tomorrow then and if not I'll start squeezing onions go to the docs. Thanks

hold your breath underwater for 10 minutes

cures everything

I should perhaps also mention the breathless wheeze I have along with a cough! If I tried to hold my breath I think I would die!

Hopi ear candles - find a practitioner near you or you can do-it-yourself (with a sensible friend). They are great.

Do be careful. I used one of those fizzing solutions once on a slightly blocked ear and ended up with a horrendous ear infection and was very ill.

pardon?

Go to the GP and he will check your ears for infection. It does need medical attention from your GP rather than trying home remedies. Worst case scenario here is that you could otherwise end up with some degree of permanent hearing loss.

Do NOT use hopi ear candles!!.
