Hated Mirena - Is Implanon any better?

Has anyone been on Mirena and had it taken out because it didnt agree with them and then been put on Implanon, (the needle thingy in your arm?) My GP wants me to go on this but as I understand it's all the same artificial hormone (namely Progestogen ) that's being released into your body so surely it will have all the same side effects?? Really don't want to go through all this again and beginning to think Hormonal Contraception just not for me. Hate the thought of sterilisation for either me or the dh though so not sure what to do.

What about a copper coil?

Works for me

I would also reccomend the copper coil. Or is there any particular reason why you need the hormonal one?

I can't take any hormonal contraception, I've had a copper coil fitted and I'm very happy with it. No worry, no fuss, no bother and most importantly, no horrid side effects.

If you're having problems with hormonal contraception it doesn't seem like a good idea at all to try the implant or injection.
