I have a very sore ear, feels inflamed,and is itchy

I got DH to have a look last night and he said that inside my ear - the canal bit, not the bit visible - he said there are some spots with what look like white heads on them. He actually said they were similar to what DS1 gets on his tonsils. Anyway, he said they look like they are also re dand angry looking and my ear is throbbing with them, and also very very itchy. However, if I try to scratch it then it really hurts.

You probably have a skin infection in there

You have otitis externa (skin infection in your ear!) - get yourself to a GP for some drops/spray.

I knew I would have to go to doc, I was hoping I could get something over the counter! have to wait 2 weeks to get a doc apppointment

It would be worth asking a chemist if they can suggest something soothing to use in the meantime.

To be honest though I think this should warrant a more urgent appointment as it is an acute medical condition and could get worse - if you can't get past the receptionist at your surgery maybe ask for a 'phone consultation with your GP.

sounds like some white ehads actually in your ear canal. They can be very sore until they pop...but get it checked out in case of infection
