Has anyone taken spironolactone for acne?

I would be interested in your experiences.

I'm 2 weeks in and my skin is worse, but I suspect it may take quite a long time to kick in. I also have a permanently upset stomach and feel a bit weak. I plan to persevere for 2 months, but may pack it in then if things carry on like this.

I've not heard of this one, and thought I'd tried just about every acne treatment over the years!

Does it go by any other name? Is it a consultant prescription or a GP? Is it new?

It's from a dermatologist prescription, but I don't live in the UK, so we don't really have GPs. It's preferred in the US as I understand to things like dianette, and works in the same sort of way on anti-androgen receptors (I think!).
