Unbearable cramping - worse than labour pains!

Okay maybe my memory has erased the memory but it feels like it.

It started yesterday morning and I assumed it was a stomach bug as I felt really nauseous.

t's not getting any better and I keep being left breathless and doubled over.

It's cramping all across my stomach right up to under my ribs that lasts for 12 seconds or so and happens in four or five bursts every half hour.

Should I start to actually worry and do something about it instead of thinking. Ow that bloody hurts. then getting on with my day.

sounds like when i can a very nasty tummy bug, try taking some soluble paracetamol, works a treat.

Pain was far far worse than labour pains

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 02/12/2009 15:05

Thanks I'll try that.

It really is - at least with labour pain you know the pain is actually doing something!

if it gets worse than i phone your GP's, that what i did, they gave advice over the phone and what changes to look for, the soluble paracetamol being the first piece of advice! within 30 mins of taking the pain was a lot less and gradually died down over the next 24 hours.

Have you ever had any gall-bladder problems? Does it get worse if you eat fatty food? Disclaimer - Haven't had it myself, but sounds like my MIL decsribed the pain when she had 'slush' in her gall-bladder.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 02/12/2009 15:27

No I haven't.

I have only eaten a dry bagel for the last 48 hours ish as I feel too queasy. I'm thinking lots of food thoughts but can't face it in reality. I was boaking earlier whilst making fishcakes for the DC.

Can't be appendicitis either as I've been there- done that.

Could be IBS? (Irritable Bowel).

Try drinking peppermint tea and see if that helps to calm it down.

I sometimes suffer from this, although thankfully very rarely now, and I would rather go through labour again!

Hope you're feeling better soon.

My mum has IBS and had all srts of trouble in that area.

Just not sure this is the same - the pain comes to right under my ribs.

I think that's where the gall bladder is. But I could be completely wrong. DId you phone the GP yet?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 02/12/2009 15:42

Yes I have but won't get a call back until after 6.30pm. Easier than trecking out with the DC though.
