My dad turned up at my house this morning when I was at work and stayed for an hour, played with 11 month old DS and told DH how poorly he'd felt last night. I rang mum this evening to find out he'd taken to bed with swine flu. Dad was a GP and I have never ever known him to be ill so I'm sure he must be.

A colleague at work was in yesterday complaining of feeling crappy and now she is off sick with SF too. Am I too late to get DS vaccinated? Poor DH has asthma too and gets really ill even with a cold, Bloody hell I'm pissed off with the pair of them going out in public with SF

If he has been exposed already I don't think the jab will help - I think it is at least a week to two weeks for full protection, and I think children need two jabs? Watch out for symptoms like a hawk and get him tamiflu very quickly if he shows symptoms. Maybe ring your gp for advice.

Don't be pissed off. People don't know they have it, it is only supposition unless they've been tested and little testing is happening. I have two kids at home with a virus that has been running through the family, we have no idea if it's a bad cold, SF or something else...

Unless a quarantine is imposed for EVERY remote sniffle, I'm afraid you're not going to be able to escape exposure to this or any other virus.
