Lights in lounge/kitchen become overpowering...

I'm 36wks pregnant and for the last few weeks I sometimes suddenly find that the lights in the lounge become very bright and I find it hard to focus. The lights themselves aren't changing, it's just after maybe an hour of watching tele or using the laptop I suddenly find them overpowering and I feel like I need to dash for my shades. I've had my vision checked and its fine, no probs.

Can anyone explain this? Could it be a lack of sleep thing? DP and friends/family have never heard of it.

have you spoken to your GP?

I have a simlilar thing at the beginning of a migraine, but don't always get the headache.

Milliemuffin · 01/12/2009 17:07

Not yet as my gp's are pretty useless and very unsympathetic.

I would advise you see your GP. Flashing lights/ light sensitivity can be pre eclampsia.

Pkease get it checked.

Agree with DWP
My M/W always asked about lights

(I did end up with pre eclampsia it is Not Good)

I agree with above. Visual disturbance and intolerance of bright light could well be a symptom of pre eclampsia. Please see your GP or midwife to get your blood pressure and urine checked.

Thanks but saw mw yesterday and urine and bp are both fine. My bp is usually 90/60 so not high at all.

If you are taking St.Johns Wort they say it can make your eyes sensitive to light.
