Mirena Coil - hormone withdrawal side effects?

I'm asking on behalf of a friend. She's had a few turbulent years with a Mirena Coil and, after finding out that some of her symptoms could be caused by having the coil in, has recently had it removed. Since having it out she hasn't found everything plain sailing and is looking for any published information that discusses side effects that have been reported in this situation. In particular she's trying to find out about depression, mood swings and the "mirena crash" post withdrawal, and also how long symptoms are expected to last?

If anyone has any info on this, or any personal experience, it would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone?

I did try searching old threads but found a lot more focus on side effects while it was in situ rather than after removal - but I'm happy to be directed to existing info if I'm just being blind!

Hi - Just read your message. I had my mirena coil removed in July (that is a story in itself!).

The first proper period I had after coil removal was preceeded by terrible pmt like I have never experienced - sore boobs, bloating, wanting to murder one day, crying the next. I spent most of the week before my post coil period crying down the phone to my best friend! The period itself was horrendous - not seen as much blood since last gave birth.

However things have got better - the pmt is subsiding each month and the bleeding appears to be getting lighter (or perhaps I'm getting used to it!)

Tell your friend things will get better!
