If you did not see the story in the Observer today about the state of NHS hospitals, you should and you can see it here www.guardian.co.uk/society/2009/nov/29/nhs-hospitals-safety-report.

Dr Foster, the group that did the survey has a hospital guide online that can tell you everything you need to know about the NHS hospitals near you by post code and the success rates and waiting times for all kinds of procedures. It's worth a look if you are concerned about the hospitals in your area.

Yes I had a look. My dad has just spent 15 days in Weston general and hasn't a bad word to say about it (neither did Mum or I). But it had a really low score. Odd.

BRI came out quite high and although the care seems to have been good, it's crap to get info from or to visit. And dismal place too.

I guess it depends on your view point.

And Musgrove park was also poor but had nothing but good care and treatment there. But I guess I've never had anything serious go wrong with me - just babies and minor ops.
