I got the coil fitted in Feb and this is my first real period since I had it fitted but it has been accompanied by terrible back and stomach pain and extreme tiredness, is this right??? I thought I would have light or no periods and this has came as a total shock

which coil? the mirena one?

Kaloki · 30/11/2009 10:37

I'm having after mirena coil issues too (3 periods in one month plus extreme cramps -as bad as when I had the coil fitted) So bumping as well.

I am a coil user, have it fitted now since birth of my dd 3.5 years now.. Feel weight is piling on around my tummy in past six months, seriously thinking about removing. My partner has two older children from a previous marriage, he does not want anymore. i am 38 Any suggestions ..

Have been debating having it out since I got it in to be honest but it FINALLY seems to be settling down and then I have the period from hell, I just dont know what it going on with it. I cant take the pill tho and I dont like condoms so am pretty stuck, plus I got it fitted to deal with PCOS which it is meant to help.

I've got a copper coil which was also fitted in feb. I've had periods all the time and they are only just starting to settle down now, the first 3 or 4 were unbelievably heavy ( overflowing mooncup every hour heavy ) and I had a lot of spotting too and was utterly drained, I presumed from the huge blod loss.I only get pain on the first day and it's really sharp, quite unlike period pain. It's settled down over the last few cycles and I mentioned it to the dr recently and she said my experience was typical with the coil I've got.

First post baby periods are always pretty grim I think.

I havent had a baby since 2003 lol.

Oh sorry I thoughthats why your periods have been AWOL lol.

In that case then I'd go to the Drs.

Oops, ignore my last post, I read the thread wrong.

I know I had an extremely heavy first period after having the coil fitted, with lots of pain. I figured the pain was because I'd gone from the pill to the coil, and the pill stops pain better. Seems like a long time in, I'd go get it checked TBH. Make sure it's not shifted or anything.
