my inner ear feels bruised - is this an infection

IME ear infections tend to be a throbbing pain, and sometimes you get a watery yellow discharge. They can start with a sort of vague pain thats gets increasingly worse though.

I'd go for painkillers tonight (timed so you can take some just before bedtime) a warm hot water bottle wrapped in a cover to lay your ear against. If its not better in the morning see if you can see GP or practise nurse.

Ok which bit exactly? (veteran of 6 or 7 ear infections during the last 12 month - with several different sorts)

The whole ear?
The canal/hole bit?
Inside the head?
Behind the ear?
Shooting pain or achy pain?

the idea of someone putting an earry thing in it to look in it is grim.
its a dull pain inside and the outer ear hurts if knocked

I have a recurring infection in my outer ear - I have had several different types of drops but found lavender oil (stings like buggery) and lots of heat (I use a wheat bag) are the only way to go

But if it isn't your outer ear/ear canal then this won't really work

My mum's GP just told her to put olive oil in hers (inner ear) & I am a bit but it seems to be working

I think you need to see a professional - sorry (GP couldn't get the thingie in my ear it was so swollen last time - I had a boil)
