Can someone help me sort my asthma out please?

Over the last 3/4 weeks, I've been having really bad asthma attacks.
I regularly take the following (and at the moment am at the maximum doses)
Singulair
Salbutemol
Salmeterol
Fluticasone
Loratadine
I'm just finishing a 10 day course of prednisolone (having had a 5 day course of them the week before) - I started on 8 a day, then 6 a day, and now have 2 left to take tonight, then that's it.
I can feel my asthma getting bad again, and I don't know what to do
I'll be going back to the Dr's, but they don't seem to know what to do either.
I need to lose weight, but I've found it very difficult recently, as I can't do any exercise.
Any suggestions I can try to help?
I am now despairing of ever being able to live a normal life

Are you under an asthma specialist at a hospital? if not get your GP to refer you asap. if you are, ring up the sec and ask for a sooner appt. there are other drugs (theophylline, diff steroids like mometasone rather than fluticasone) so there is help out there.

I assume you are not in contact with any smoke/pets etc....

best of luck, but if your asthma is getting worse see your GP..Cass.

You sound just like me at the moment (finished prednisolone last week).
Do you have any chest infection however mild?

Have you had a chest x-ray recently?

I was also diagnosed with bronchiectasis a couple of years ago (constant small lung infections caused by years of damage) and getting that sorted (long term low dose antibiotics) really helped.

Can the GP refer you to a consultant who might have more ideas?

Sorry, not masses of help but you have my full sympathy. I'm finding my asthma really depressing at the moment - feel more like 80 than 40 some evenings.

I think it's the weather both DH & DD are bad atm - DD had her first lot of oral steroids this week

I haven't seen a specialist for years.
I don't smoke, but I do have loads of pets. (I have always been surrounded by animals, and I'm hoping I don't appear to be stupid and in denial about them, as it's been under control (apart from the very occasional blip) for the last 20 years, despite being surrounded by pets)

The Dr listened to my chest and said it sounded clear of infection, but gave me A/B's just in case (I haven't taken them - is it worth a try?)

My main trigger has always been stress, and the last year has been a bad one.
