My dad has funny feeling in his eye. Feels like a spider is walking around on his eyeball. Anyone help?

My parents live in France and can't get an optician or Dr's appointment until late next week. They don't have broadband so it would take them forever to be googling the random symptoms themselves.

This has come from my mum as my dad is reluctant to say much but I think he is a bit worried.

His eye is a bit painful and a bit runny, but the problem is mainly this funny sensation. He says it is like how you would imagine it would feel if a spider was crawling on your eyeball. He is having visual sort of problems with it too, a bit like black dots but more like spiders legs. freak .

Does anyone know what this could be? Thank you.

My dad had this last year. It is to do with the jelly in the eye hardening and coming away- can be a precursor to a detached retina but usually not (not in my dad's case so far, touch wood). Could do with getting it checked out sooner than Fri tho - my dad went to Bristol Eye Infirmary and was seen imediately as a semi-urgent case.

hanh on I'll google
