Menopause springs to mind immediately. Or TB. I've not had the latter, but started my menopause at 41.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 23/11/2009 10:46

Actaully just had another idea, thyroid trouble. My sainted mother has an overactive thyroid and was always complaining of the heat and not being able to sleep. She had some bloods done (although the rest of her symptoms were textbook) and now has some treatment and her world is a new and shiny place. Her GP really is a star and advised her to keep a diary.

sounds like an early menopause or stress

alypaly · 23/11/2009 11:02

stress makes adrenalin flow more easily and if you are a bit anxious or stressed it will make you overheat too. Been there, got the t shirt

thanks for the messages, i really need to see the GP, i'm sweating hot now and it's freezing. it's really annoying!

sleepless nights are the worst though

I had horrific hormonal sweats for nearly a year after dc 3. I kind of thought this is what the menopause will be like and I absolutely don't want it!

Could be anything - do you have other symptoms such as thirst etc? I'm sure your GP will go though the various things with you. Try not to worry too much though

southeastastra · 24/11/2009 20:35

am thirsty alot but i though that was because i was so hot. want to go and stand out in the cold. it's mad! i will see gp as soon as i can.

your not urinating very frequently as well are you?

twolittlekings · 24/11/2009 20:39

Can you call up as an emergency? We have slots that you can take at our GP that are booked on the day. Sounds like you need to see a GP asap not because it is potentially enything serious (but you don't know that) and would be good to sort

southeastastra · 24/11/2009 20:44

don't think so cargirl. will call them tomorrow to see if they can fit me in. seems to be happening for a while though, not sudden

Could you be pregnant? Night sweats are a symptom that I suffer with in v.early pregnancy.

Have you recently stopped taking a course of painkillers? Stopping codine based painkillers suddenly brings on mild withdrawal (after taking for a short time) including night sweats and insomnia.

Hope you get it sorted soon. Could be a viral thingy.

alypaly · 25/11/2009 10:05

it could also be your thyroid if you are a bit hyper at night. I had that sort of thing with anxiety/depression too
