Previous threads have disappeared as I stupidly put them in chat but just wanted to update
I posted the following about a month ago:
My thread from 6months ago about my conecerns about ds3 was in ;chat' and is gone
I wanted to update as many folks gave me some brilliant support.
DS3 truned 1 a few weeks ago. He sat up around 9 ish months eventually but I could not leave himunattended until around 11 months. At 11 months he began to commando crawl and a few weeks later he began to crawl properly. He is now cruising round the furniture at lightning speed and can stand unaided. He can climb the stairs and thinks he can walk. He is not far off. In terms of gross motor skills, I am no longer worried.
Food is still a HUGE isssue. He is getting better but as with you lovely folk who supported me months ago, I am finding thicker purees are the way o go rather than 'lumps'. He can handle some lumps but I hae to be very careful. He LOVES toast but, despite me persisting, can only handle small parts around the size of my thumb nail, at a time. I am in touch with HV and am asking for a referral to SALT with food specialism.
Follow up with PAeds ins in November where Iwill push food thing. I have watched and watched himand I can't work out whether it is a swallowing thing or a chewing/oro-motor thing or a combination or neither.
Some other gorgeous things about him. I have been doing some baby signing with him (as with his brothers) but have been pushing it with d3 just in case....
He can reliably sign: more, all done, please/thank you, yes, no, DS1, ds2 (both of which he does regulalry when they are at school) and 'love you'
he is fabulous
Today was the paed appointment.
He has been discharged and I feel fairly comfortable with that but in his letter he will recommend a SALT referral to a food specialist - as I raised my concerns again.
DS3 is doing really well. Running everywhere. Developing some 'words' with meaning: mama, dada, more (including frantic signing ) then other sounds which we understand as words 'gah' for gone 'ca' for car, 'a-gah' for again. His baby signing continues to devlop (I need to find out more signs to teach him ). He understands loads, loves to read, loves big cuddles.
He is making good progress with his food - eating much of what we eat, still mashed but improving. Pieces of toast and banana are gettign larger, he wikll eat rice, small pasta shells. LOVES scrambled egg and sandwiches. Beginning to get used to raisins. Loves squashed peas
Will be pushing SALT referral in the next week or so as the more I watch him the more I think it is oro-motor
Thanks to all who are still interested
