Dr thinks I have IBS - any advice?

They are going to do some blood tests but he thinks that's what I have. I don't really know what to do now - should I change my diet? I gave up coffee last week to see if it helped at all, not really noticed much difference though. Would love to hear what helped other people.

Boots Digestive Health : Travel probiotic, take as if you were in a foreign country.

I will check that out - thank you. I am a bit lost right now, the dr didn't really give me any info.

what are your symptoms?

I've had IBS for 15 years now but doesn't really bother me any more. If I get very stressed/tired I avoid spicy or greasy food and start taking my tablets before every meal and that generally sorts it out. There is so much more medication available now than there was 15 years ago .

The trick is to work out what the triggers are. Might be worth keeping a diary to work out what you've eaten, what you've done, how you were feeling before attacks of it.

Tummy pain, bloating, bad wind mainly. I haven't seen a pattern so far - sometimes I eat something and it seems to bother me other times it doesn't. A food diary is a good idea - if I am diciplined enough to keep it!

I used to take aloe vera gel every day. It sorted out all my symptoms in about 3 weeks. I don't take it on a regular basis anymore, but if I know I'm going to have a stressful week at work, I take double doses for a few days.
