Bleeding gums..any home remedies?

Since my last pregnancy I've suffered with bleeding gums. Didn't worry too much at the time as I put it down to pregnancy hormones, but dd is now 17 months and it's still going on. The dental hygienist showed me how to clean my teeth ( using the electric toothbrush at a 45 deg angle) but I have another appointment looming and still no joy. Does anyone have any bright ideas of other things I could try?

Oh and meant to confess that the name is a straight crib from Balamory. Hoping not to get done for plagiarism!

josiejump - as far as I know bleeding gums is caused by gum disease, and super duper cleaning is the way to get rid of it!

I had bleeding gums for years and it only stopped when I bought a colgate electric toothbrush (maybe the round spinny ones are better than the uppy downy ones or something. or maybe I was lucky).

POssibly mouthwash would help, but more likely you haven't quite got the hang of the cleaning with the electric toothbrush (maybe try a different type? softer head? ).
