HELP RAGING PAIN FROM WISDOM TOOTH, WHAT CAN I TAKE?

Have got an appointment on Tuesday to see specialist but am in dire pain. The pain has gone round my face and jaw. Been taking extra strength paracetamol together with DS Bonjela! Now trying and paracetamol codeine tablet suggested by Pharmacist. Still in agony. Any good suggestions please to get me through the next couple of days as I am worn out with dealing with the pain.

Contact your dentist/doctor for antibiotics if there's an infection?

I found clove oil helps - tastes foul on the gum though!

Bathe your mouth in hottish salty water.
Hold a mouthful over the sore area for as long as you can while massaging the outside of your face.
Alternate neurofen with paracetamol ( assuming not pg)

Clove oil is a good local aneasthetic for your mouth.

I would go to A and E-they can give you stronger painkillers than you can get at the chemist. I do sympathise-toothache is absolutely awful, isn't it?

Guardianangel -I went to A&E about my wisdom tooth (it was post op) as I was in screaming agony.

Got seen pretty fast and given a shot of pethidine and some additional painkillers on top of the ones the dentist had given me which just weren't touching it!

Puff · 19/06/2005 20:03

How are you guardianangel?

Guardianangel · 19/06/2005 20:10

Hi there, im coping ok. I was tempted to go to A&E but they do make you feel a bit of a nuisance. (you know, not dying and all that)! Had a better day yesterday but today a bit more painful. I have taken all advice and am trying the neurofen combo with hottish salty water at the moment. Thank to you and everyone who posted to me, reeeaaaally greatful. Will post when Ive seen consultant on Tuesday. Bye for now. x

Evening ALL. Seen specialist and will whip (two) wisdom teeth out in August! I have been given anti biotics and pain killers and feel a tad more comfortable. I think the next couple of days will tell. Thanks for all advice.
