Lack of appetite with colds

I have a 7.5month old dd who has her first 'real' cold - nose streaming, sneezing and coughing. She seems to have gone right off her milk, and am struggling to get 16 oz down her these last few days. She has managed to eat a little bit (but she doesn't eat much anyway at the best of times), but is just not drinking much milk. She won't drink juice or water so am worried that in this heat she'll dehydrate. What can I do?

Corky - when you are unwell, do you like to eat?
If you are really concerned you could try watermelon? or maybe a bath... does she (like loads of kids) like to drink her bath water ????
If you are seriously worried about her being dehydrated you can ask your GP but I believe signs of dehydration are lack of skin elasticity, not shiny eyes,... She is just poorly, giver her LOADS of cuddles, let her sleep in your arms, reassure her that she will be better soon.... and she will!

Funnily enough I've just given her a bath and squirted water into her mouth - think she may have drunk a bit - honestly the things we do! I know what you mean though about eating when you're unwell - you can't help worrying though can you! Will try the watermelon trick maybe tomorrow - thanks for the tips!
