I can't make my mind up whether or not to get dd vaccinated. Dh says no, I just don't know. I thought it was 3 weeks.

Elibean · 03/11/2009 13:01

Both my dds had it last Wednesday. dd1 had no reaction bar a slightly sore arm, dd2 was a bit hot and unsettled that evening but fine the next day (or as fine as she could be given she already had a cold!).

dh felt fluey and went to bed early that evening, but was fine the next morning (and obviously, manfluvaccine springs to mind )

QuintessentialShadows, my DS (8 year old) had his seasonal flu jab yesterday and the nurse said he was on the list for the SF jab. However, she said that, because he is under 10, he will need 2 doses which will be given 3 weeks apart. Have you been told that you need another dose?

milla2 · 11/11/2009 11:53

just posted a message in thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/swine_flu/854942-9yr-old-asthmatic-dd2-been-called-to-have-sw ine-flu

probably should have done it in this one

I hope this helps anybody making this difficult decision.

DD, 2, has had the swine flu jab, she had a sore arm for a day or so, she only got half and needs the other half 4 weeks later. Ds will be getting his next week.
No other side effects yet

diseyw · 12/11/2009 20:54

DS aged 11 had the jab on Tues as he is asthmatic. Had a very sore arm all day yesterday, headache and felt light headed and a bit dizzy so no school. Much better today and hasn't mentioned his arm hurting any more.

Elibean · 12/11/2009 22:08

dd nearly 3, and dd nearly 6, had theirs two weeks ago. Both had slightly sore arms, dd2 (the younger one) was a bit hot and grumpy that evening. Nothing else.

I think its 2-3 weeks till full immunity (but thats with adult one-off dose) but its a gradual thing, not sudden. So some degree of immunity before then, I would think

Elibean · 12/11/2009 22:08

I'd already posted. Senior moment, sorry.

Which jab did your children receive? I am bumping this post up b/c I would like to know more from people since they are going to have children under 5 start taking the swine flu vaccine and I have an 18 month old.

mamakoukla · 20/11/2009 02:35

2y2mth DD received the vaccine last Friday. No apparent symptoms... a bit mean but I gently prodded her arm to see if it was tender and I got a bizarre "what are you up to now Mummy?" look and she ran away giggling.
