no harm in keeing well hydrated/ drinking cranberry juice/wiping bum front to back alongside antibiotics when neccessary

did they check for glucose in your urine, can increase chance of infections

and double voiding to make sure your bladder is empty each time (at end of wee, wait a few seconds then try again basically)

Hi spiritinthesky, I don't know if my experience will help, but here goes:

I was having really frequent UTIs, causing lots of problems, culminating in me breaking down in tears at the GP because I said I was going to have to abstain from sex for my honeymoon to avoid a UTI. She took pity on me and prescribed me a three week course of antib's that avoided a UTI and broke the cycle.

I then went into prevention overdrive: drinking enough water, especially if drinking alcohol; going to the toilet after sex; obsessive cleaning after going to the toilet; taking cranberry tablets; abstaining from sex if I got any of the early feelings of being at risk of a UTI. And I have largely been able to avoid recurrence.

I think knowing what the trigger is helps enormously. For me it's sex, and if the preventative measures hadn't worked, I would have opted to take a single dose of antibiotic each time I had sex to avoid it. For me, frequent UTIs were so debilitating that I was prepared to take antibiotics on a regular basis.

I had frequent UTIs. Sex was definitely a trigger but I would get them fairly regularly even in periods when I wasn't sexually active.

Then one day I mentioned the UTIs to the gynecologist who was doing my smear test. He said it sounded like the infection was lodged in the vagina, reinfecting UT with sex or even my period. He prescribed a double treatment - urinal & vaginal.

That was exactly 10 years ago. I haven't had a single UTI since.

Please go see a gynecologist.
