Do specsavers really have such a rubbish business model or was this woman just lazy?

I rang specsavers today to book a contact lens check & eye test. She asked me if I was sure I needed an eye test,so I said I think so but surely you should be able to tell me as you are supplying my contact lenses based on my last sight test? "Well there is nothing on file" she said odd as I have had all my sight tests & lenses & glasses from specsavers for the last 10 years..
Apparently if you were tested at another branch they don't have it on the system, when I asked her how on earth they knew in that case what prescription contact lenses to supply me with, she said & I kid you not, "oh well we must have known once"

I loathe and abhor specsavers and refuse to ever go back for myself since they had this 12 yr old (seemed like) gobby gumchewing Saturday girl doing my eye test and just being generally dreadful, to the point I stopped half way through and walked out.

I did take dd there 2 weeks ago, and must admit they were very nice to her, in a herding people about in a cattle market kind of way. It just seems such a production line of people you get shoved around to in there. (we saw 7 different people in the space of 2 hrs.)

my local one is lovely, cannot fault it! Think any branch is only as good as the people in it.

have never felt herded. And my optician chap has a fan club And he spotted a potentially dangerous eye condition and saw me every week for a month until it had cleared up, where my GP just shrugged and said it was conjunctivitis, even though I said I knew it was not.

I think she was being lazy...change your opticians

I think Specsavers is a franchise operation. So each branch is, in effect, a different company.

They have in the past faxed (it was a while ago) my details between branches. They may be able to send the information electronically now.

Echofalls - I think you are right, in fact it looks like I could save money too by changing so their loss I'd say.

Bucharest "luckily" due to my dodgy eye history both dd's are under the care of the hospital ophthalmologist until they are five so I don't have to contend with that just yet - which would probably be the final straw.

Annmar - that's my point really why set it up so that they can't check the prescription if you were tested at specsavers - surely it doesn't encourage brand loyalty? I could go anywhere & go through that rigmarole.In any case the have my prescription already otherwise they wouldn't know what prescription my contact lenses should be!

Don't get me started on specsavers I can feel my blood pressure going just thinking of the trouble they caused my dd 14, I have vowed never to go back to the Evesham branch ever again, they are an absolute nightmare but the branch in stratford upon avon is completely different and professional.

Specsavers are a franchise, which is probably why they don't have central customer records (and why there's so much difference between branches).

I took my prescription in, and ordered glasses. I went to collect them, and couldn't read anything. Cutting a long story short, the dispenser had misread the form and thought that my right eye was 3.25 rather than -0.25 (the - was over the 0, so looked a little like a 3, I suppose). Promised to call me as soon as they were in. No phonecall. I phoned a week later, to be told "yep, they're in". Trot down, still can't read anything. Someone had just presume they had been refitted, but they were exactly the same. I waited another week before they were right
