tampon discomfort after baby?

Sorry if this is tmi, but since having dd 7 months ago (emergency section after a long labour), I haven't been able to use tampons. They don't feel like they are far enough in and I can feel it when I sit down - is this normal? I used them with no problems before

anyone else feel this?

no i haven't experienced this. Have you tried lilets tampons instead of tampax. They expand width ways instead of length ways. If you haven't already tried try using an applicator tampon as this will enable you to push the tampon furthur in. I hope this helps. If not do you think it is worth a visit to your gp?

Thanks, I'll pick up some applicator ones today. I can't think of a reason they should be uncomfortable, I didn't give birth naturally, so I didn't think I'd be different down there, but I did dilate to 8cm so maybe that's changed things?

I had lots of similar problems bibiboo - there was a whole thread on TMI . I have since done loads of pelvic floor exercises and the last period I had I was able to use tampons again. I also went onto the super size was as opposed to the little mini ones I used pre babies!

no i wouldn't think that would change it as the cervix didn't fully open and the tampon doesn't go furthur than that...does it hurt putting them in or taking them out?

Im the same... jess is 10 months old and i couldnt use tampons either!

I have the same problem and also when im having a period it aches down below when I stand in one place. DD is 1

yes, ds is 13months and i had first period last month, could feel tampon as a kind of weight! and felt very uncomfortable. Used tampax compak applicator ones. hope it gets better, can't stand sanitary towels

I'm quite relieved to know it isn't just me. I hate sanitary towells to, I can't help but feel a bit grubby when I use them.

I guess the only thing for it is to have another baby, right?

indeed, must be the only thing for it! ...unless of course that ends up making it worse!...must keep having babies until become menopausal!

Thats the one giraffski, At first I thought it was from the stiching as I noticed it a few days after DD was born but I seem to get it every period.

I've got this too - haven't been able to use them since ds was born three years ago! I don't know what's caused it - could understand it better if I'd had vaginal births but I've only had sections.. hmmm

have same! is it something to do with weak pelvic floor?

I've used a mooncup since dd was born and I've never looked back - sooooo much comfier than tampons

i had this after ds1's birth. HAd a 'normal' vaginal birth after long 48 hour labour and could not use tampons for the same reasons stated here. Then I had ds2 2 years later and once periods returned after breastfeeding finashed i found i could use tampons just fine again! No idea why?!!?!

same here...2 sections, now use a mooncup and it's brill...only have to deal with it once a day!!!

This mooncup thing sounds wierd but interesting. I've looked at this web-site, but really how does it actually work? I've never found tampons comfortable, and although pads are hugely better than they used to be, always feel a bit smelly during my period. So up for something new!

How do you put it in, and more importantly how do you take it out and empty it? I have to say that does sound a bit gross, although I am assuming it's not.

Oh, and I've had two c-sections, and am over 30. I think my pelvic floor is relatively OK.

I have exactly the same situation too. I had an elective c-section and pelvic floor is okay. My GP just said that things change once you become pregnant but could not be any more specific or give assurances that it would improve.
