How do you deal with period pain?

Just wondering cos I've got it at the moment
My normal method of hot water bottle on tummy isn't working.

So what do you do?

also take oil of evening primrose during month and cut back on caffeine helps... hope you are better soon -- I found having 2 kids got rid of my pains but do remember crawling floor in agony... talk to your doc as they can give you painkillers with prostaglandins(sp?) which help relax the uterus... there is a school of thought that says an ice pack is more effective than hot water for relaxing uterus...

sorry just realised these are not immediately effective -- I would just make sure you take as many painkillers as possible, eat chocolate and try to move around..

Many moons ago, when I was a part of a sports team at Uni, my trainer told me that the key to reduce the pain is to keep your legs moving. I found that exercises that involved folding the knees such as sitting and stand in up, etc. helped to reduce the pain, a 20 min "warming up" session made them dissapear. I had very hard pains with every single period and this advice certainly made the problem more bearable.

have you ever tried 'feminex' ? they are the best tabs ive ever had as i suffered from bad periods cramps and i took it, 20 mins later it was gone and was feeling ahhhh thats better

In a word BADLY. Do not get in my way or cross me at that time of the month Ive tried eveerything and nothing has worked so I deal with the pain by growling at everyone.

sory its called 'Feminax' - its got in it Caffeine, Codeine, Hyoscine hydrobomide and paracetamol

if you get desperate then try one of those

Feminax are wonderful. They really do work quick. They only down side is that I get really drowsy after taking them, which is not good if your in on your own.

Ibuprofen and a warm bath.

I have tried Feminax but it was a few years ago and it didn't work then. I might get some in a bit!!!

ive never feel drowsy so poss some people it does make you feel drowsy, i feel wonderful after ive taken them (no im not a high!)

I do feel great when I take it, it's just the drowsiness I can't do with.

I have heard that lack of calcium is supposed to make cramping worse, so perhaps increasing calcium intake might help.

Also, ladies using cloth sanitary pads instead of disposable ones or using something like the mooncup instead of tampons have reported a decrease in pain and cramping. I must admit it worked for me. It could of course be coincidence with my age but I don't think so. I hardly have any pain at all now.
