Question for anyone who has had Ciprofloxacin for urinary tract infections...

How long are you meant to take them for, i.e. what's the usual advice for an ordinary UTI? (Assuming you're taking the usual dose which is 500mg twice daily). I'm asking because it seems like some doctors prescribe for 3 days and others for longer, and would like to know what's considered standard.

from what I know 3 days is usually enough for a bog standard infection, 5 days for a recurrent one

normally ciprofloxacin is a seven day course, but in mild UTI's 3 days is ok. It is not normally the first drug of choice so I was wondering if you had had a urine sample cultured. Here is dosage for ciprofloxacin/ Brand-ciproxin

they come in 250mg also
