What age did your child lose their first milk tooth?

My dd will be 5 yo in October and already has one wobbly front bottom tooth. I was quite shocked when she showed me but she's excited about the tooth fairy's impending visit. What age was your child/ren when they lost their first tooth?

my DD lost hers at 5 - she is 6 now and they are nearly grown back again.

ds @ 6 1/2 last October - still only lost first 2 and he has already turned 7 ! The replacements grew through before the others came out by a few months.

Eldest son (8yrs 2mths) lost his first milk tooth about a week or so ago (mind you, it was loosened when he fell from a friend's trampoline and landed face down on grass and hung on for another week or so before coming out). He didn't get his first baby tooth until 14mths so maybe that's why he's later in getting his seconds.

Both my dds lost their first tooth aged 4.5 !

DD held onto hers until nearly 7. DS knocked one out aged 3, others started at 6.

Pinotmum · 28/05/2005 20:57

Miaou, did the new ones come through quite soon after? There's quite a difference in ages isn't there, from 4.5 yo to 8.2 yo (after a fall).

dd was 4.5 and one of her friends lost a tooth before dd!

Miaou · 28/05/2005 21:39

Yes they did Pinotmum - well, dd1's did, dd2's took a little longer, but it was the adult teeth coming through that pushed the baby teeth out.

They are now 6.5 and 8 on Tuesday, but haven't lost any teeth for well over a year now - each of them have 8 adult teeth (four top and bottom)

I have a theory, that children who are late getting teeth, are later losing them. Is this anyone elses experience?

Pinotmum · 28/05/2005 21:48

The one she's losing came through at 6 months. I know my mum would gree with your theory.

Not sure I'd go along with that ds had his bottom 2 through at almost 5 months, so they lasted over 6 years!
