dads just been diagnosed with acute myloid leukeamia, don't want to google it but need to know what it is and how serious it is.

sister just called me to let me know, i know leukeamia(sp) is a type of cancer but thats it.

too scared to google it and get myself worked up by misinformation.

anyone out there who knows about it? is dad going to die?
how serious is it?

he starts chemo tomorrow!

The basic skinny is, it is survivable in some cases but treatment is pretty harsh and you all need to talk it over with people who understand this stuff - Cancer Bacup are really helpful, they have a helpline and you can just call them and ask them your basic questions, or just talk.

Sorry to hear this. I agree with wmmc about contacting cancerbackup. It's the site my hospital recommends, and it has their patient/family booklets around for people to read.
