Does the contraceptive injection prevent implantation?

As far as I know the pill prevents implantation if fertilisation happens - is it the same with the injection you can get? Thanks

I presume so, they're both supposed to prevent ovulation in the first place though arn't they? I think the hormones are similar so would have same effects.
