Much shorter period cycle after pregnancy - is this normal?

My period has just started, and for the fourth month running is much earlier than I expected with about a 23/24 day cycle.

Before I had ds my cycle always ran like clockwork, every 31/32 days. Ds is now 15 months. My periods were erratic until he was about 12 months, but now seem to have settled into this much shorter cycle (and the period itself seems to last longer). I'm finding a bit of a PITA, what with longer periods and less time in between them, and wondered if it was normal after pregnancy, and if it's likely to stay this way now.

Anyone else had experience of this?

Mine became more irregular, much shorter cycle, less time actually bleeding and far far heavier than before ds. They were also totally pain- and discomfort-free. After dd (ie my second child)they returned almost to what they had been before babies. A bit more irregular, but still less pain and discomfort, so I'm not complaining .

That's interesting, am down to about 26 days post ds, used to be more like 29.

Thanks for the input everyone.

So....sounds like I'm not that unusual. I'll keep fingers crossed that the cycle gradually gets longer again. You never know.
