How long does it take for food poisoning to kick in?

DH has been vomiting all morning. We ate the same things yesterday so I can't work out what's caused it.

Between a few hours and up to 3 weeks according to my food hygiene book.

oh god really? Well I probably shouldn't worry then. 3 weeks? What a shock!

Actually says from 1 hour to 14 days for illness to start but some of the illness's can last up to 3 weeks.

If he's just got diarrhoea and stomach ache it could be from eating soil/ dirt or raw meat.

My DS had food poisoning on Saturday night. We had fish and chips by the sea in the evening. He smeared his fish over the bench we were sitting on, picked chips off the floor to eat etc (I did try and stop him!!) But he was sick 3 times that night - starting 8 hours after eating. Still feeling a bit ill Monday morning.

hmmm, we had moussaka last night but it was burnt well cooked. Maybe he's picked up a bug then. He's been vomiting on and off since 6.30am, I feel so sorry for him. There is nothing left to bring up now, he sounds like he's just retching.
