dd had a series of very high fevers during which she had a cough and itchy nose, but after which she seemed fine and didn't seem to have anything chesty at all.

If it was SF, then yes, my nephew. Violent diarrohoea, high temps, no cough.

Possibly ds but don't know for sure if it was SF - GP said it was.

He had a high temp, slightly runny nose, lethargy, chills, aches but no cough.

DH (had confirmed SF) had very high temperature, general aches and pains, absolutely HUGE APPETITE (I thought that people with flu wouldn't eat, well not in his case and the doctor said that she had seen that before with SF) and a bit of a cough but not sneezing or anything like it more like a smokers cough (he doesn't smoke). He got tamiflu (we all did) and after 2.5 days fever disappeared, he still felt extremely tired for another two weeks though. So he didn't have a chesty throaty thing.
