Hello Mumsnetters,

I started blw with my now 7-month-old a month ago, and though she's made good progress in terms of picking stuff up and getting it in her mouth, gumming/chewing (no teeth yet) etc, she's actually swallowing very little. I think this is not uncommon and am continuing to give her 4 milk feeds a day (one breast, 3 formula), but am worried about her getting enough vitamins and minerals, specifically iron. Some sources seem to say she'll be getting enough from the formula, but others seem to dispute that. Any advice please?

she should be getting plenty from your milk and the formula.

Kellymom is usually pretty good for info on these matters.
In my experience BLW took off when DS mastered his pincer grip, he seemed to go from eating bits of bananas in a mildly disinterested fashion to wolfing down everything in sight within a few days! He was about 8 months old at the time.
