What are the symptoms likely to be? I can't find much information on this regarding babies and toddlers.

My toddler is poorly and showing some of the signs of cold/flu.

  • Rapidly developing high temperature above 38.5
  • Pain/aching in body - usually presents as irritability/not wanting to be touched.
  • D&V
  • Coughs, cold, congestion
  • Signs of headache (obviously check for light aversion/rash other meningitis symptoms as well as assuming it's swine flu).

Threshold for hospital admittance for under fives is much lower than adults. DS was offered a hospital place on Friday - he has some bug - we don't know what - but we declined - don't want to catch anything by going into hospital!

Oh and the rapidly developing high temp is normally the tip off - flu develops in four hours or there abouts. You go from feeling a bit shit to feeling like death warmed up.
