silly question - but they don't bother asking you to make an appointment if there's nothing wrong, do they?

I've been feeling v. tired and run down, no energy, no motivation, thought it was depression-related as I've been recently put on Citalopram, but 4 months in, it hasn't gone away so the doctor suggested some blood tests for various things.

I was told to expect the results in 2 weeks, they have sent me a letter much sooner than that asking me to ring the surgery to make an appointment to discuss the results.

They've never done this before when I've had to have blood tests, normally I have to ring them and it's a very off-hand 'no, nothing wrong' - mind you, I haven't had to have a blood test in 3 years so maybe things have changed...

So does this mean there's something wrong, d'you reckon? Or am I (mildly) worrying needlessly and this is some new bureaucracy that they have to make an appointment call me in to tell me all is well?

hmm dunno. our surgery always rings/writes and gets me to make an appt to discuss blood results.
the time scale thing shouldn't worry you. i expect they say 2 weeks cos it might take that long but yours have just got seen to a bit quicker.

I'd say it is probably routine, you may be slightly anaemic for example. If it were urgent they 'd ring and maybe the turn around was just quicker than they allowed for.

if it was urgent or really serious, they'd ring, if they've written, it would probably be siomething fairly simple they've noticed and can sort out. Good luck!

This is fairly routine at my GP. Could be all results are clear and they want to do more tests? Discuss alternatives ref to dietician/excercise for example?

'Something wrong' did happen to me. I was at GP in morning and phoned to go to hosp in the afternoon.
If there was anything really wrong, I'm sure they'd have you back in the next day, not invite you to make an appointment at your leisure.
