Smear test - come on ladies if I can so can you :)

After a week of agonising and upset tummies and nervous exhaustion I've had my smear test this morning. Took less than 2 minutes and I don't have to go back for another 3 years . Its never as bad as you think its going to be.

Relief!

i had one recently after skipping it for a horrific 6 years.

was over in seconds and all was fine.

really not that bad and i am a raving prude.

Far less painful, in fact not painful at all, since having my boys although DH swears blind I don't 'feel' any different

i am well overdue mine (its been about 5 yearss i think )

My problem is after childhood and adult abuse, i get extremely frightened if anyone is 'in that area' IYSWIM. My DD2 had to be born by CS, as i couldnt bear the prospect of all the flashbacks and panic attacks i had when i had DD1.

I think with all the Jade stuff (bless her little boys) i look at my two girls and think I really need to get it sorted. But, even talking with the nurse about it a couple of month ago, i had such a massive panic attack and was distressed for weeks afterwards!

I begged and begged them to do it at the same time as my CS, but no go

Jet I know exactly where you're coming from. Would it help to have your DP there with you? Helped me enormously the first time I went.

Had mine (6 months overdue) a fortnight ago and got the results - all clear - this weekend.

I had a practice nurse in training, so had her and the senior nurse between my legs at one point!

Hey ho - they see ladies bits day in day out, just another routine smear test for them!

VERY quick test and such a relief to have it done.

I've got one tomorrow morning.

I had it booked for Friday but then rebooked it for tomorrow because DD has an inset day on Friday but this morning she was sick in my car on the way to school and now has to stay off school for 48 hours so will be with me tomorrow.

Do I rebook again or take her and leave her in the waiting room?

She's 7 and we live in a village so relatively quiet surgery.

Hmm, I'd leave her with the receptionist TBH. Some things they just don't need to know about yet

LOL, I agree, 7 is a little too young to know about scraping cells from Mummy's cervix!

I have a posterior cervix too which makes finding it a problem and it can be quite painful too so def not something for her to come and witness!

She could perhaps be in the room with you, but have it done behind a curtain. I had mine done a few weeks ago, and there was a screen up in case someone came in the room.
