Has anyone any experience of the DVLA driving assessment?

My Dad has vascular dementia and has been summoned to the local driving test centre for a medical assessment.

Has anyone any experience of this? What does the test involve? Is he required to drive on the road, or just at the test centre?

The DVLA won't give me any information and Dad is stressing before he even gets there!

Thanks in advance

DH does medicals for cardiology patients.

Your dad won't be having a medical in a driving test centre. It sounds like they are putting him through a driving test specific for elderly people? They may do the 'can you read the number plate' test for vision?

In terms of his medical needs, your dad's psychogeriatrician will do the exam and report directly to the DVLA on your dad's suitability to drive.
