My DH drve 180 miles today: a 4 hour round trip for a 10 minute hospital appointment

It's so hard for him

I couldn't go today so he had to drive

He is exhausted and we will live with this for 3 or 4 days until he gets over it

It makes me so sad

How is he Katy?

When does he get results and treatment regime(I assume this was for his scan)?

It is a bummer that you live so far away from the hospital at which he needs reasonably frequent contact (FIL lives near your hosp and we go on holiday near your home so I know exactly how far and how crap the route is - you have my sympathy).

Hope he is feeling better soon.

I can't help but think the scan could have been done at the local hospital & the results emailed across

I know someone that had a scan (for something totally different) in Spalding/Stamford and the results were emailed to Hinchingbrooke for expert opinion.

I would really expect the equipment to do teh tests in Norfolk/Kings Lynn/somewhere so you just have to go to Papworth for the specialist consultation.

There seems to be the assumption I can drop everything and run him everywhere - I don't think I will let him go alone again tbh

But I need to keep earning money or we will be in a bigger mess than we are & we earn just too much to get an help at all

Have they sorted out treatment yet or are they waiting for scan results?

My DS1 needs a MRI scan on his spine, i told the consultant at St Thomas' that I couldn't do the jounery into london again and he requested the scan at our local hospital, DS is going on thursday to have the scan done locally and they will forward the results to St thomas' so it is possible, can your DH ask if its possible at all?

We have discussed how hard he finds it to get there

They offered Hospital transport with an esimated journey time of 6 hrs 20 mins

I will have another talk to them

Thats not really on.

It is not as if he is a fit healthy man that can tolerate the journey....

Apparently they have other people to drop off/pick up

I understand that we can't get help with transport costs - but then they offer that??

If we weren't helped by my parents we couldn't afford for him to be ill - we would have lost the house/my employment by now
