Has anyone heard of hemiplegic migraines?

A friend was describing this to me and I was very concerned. She basically becomes powerless down one side and has visual and speech problems at the same time. I've not heard to this before and wondered if anyone else has?

My sister suffers from them. The first time it happened we rushed her to A&E as we thought she had a stroke.

yes, I get this with migraines.

it has got a bit better, but when I was a teenager, for about 1/2 hour at a time I lost the power of speech completely.

now mine start with visual disturbance, and soon afterwards I get numbness that travels up one arm, across my face, and down the other.

I think all these symptoms are fairly common.
