A few Qs about free dental treatment...

I have just broken a tooth and have no idea how dentists work (used to mum making my appointments ). DS is 9 months old so does that mean I get everything 100% free? Would that include more major work ie. giving me some sort of tooth again? Or is it just the basics? Just been goggling and it says an implant costs £1300! Is sedation free too? Thanks so much if you can help

Used to be free for 12 months, but could be different now. maybe someone will come along and tell you for sure.

Mine is on denplan. I recently broke a crown and needed a new one. My denplan covered it except for lab fees (whatever they are) and I paid a total o £80 which i didnt think was bad!

A crown is a nice metal thing for your head - or in dental terms it's a veneer which fits over several teeth permanently.

Sorry about your tooth btw, I chipped my front one when DD hit me in the face with a toy, then DS chipped another with a train two years later . The dentist filed mine down a bit to compensate for the chip - it was fecking painful.

Mine are now buggered by the constant vomiting while pregnant, I've lost about 30% of the enamel apparently. Mind you I'm very careful to look after them now so maybe it's a good thing.

its a cap that fits over my (mis shapen) filed down tooth to look like a gorgeous real tooth - you cant tell. It had a crack in it - but I have had it 13 years!

all NHS treatment is free for up to 12 months after baby is born, also don't worry if your treatment goes over the 12 month mark as it is from the day you start the treatment.
They will repair the tooth, you are entitled to a crown on the NHS but only if the tooth is not repairable by filling, (you'll be surprised at how easy it is to repair what feels like a massive break by a simple filling)
