Need some advice re pre-cancer smear result

My sister had a bad smear result a few years ago, pre-cancer cells, and had laser treatment for it. She announced today she is going to the hospital for a smear test (same department that treated her). Is this normal 2 years after treatment stopped? Nobody is going with her, sha hasn't asked anyboy to, but I'm a bit worried incase she isn't telling us the whole truth.

She didn't tell us about the treatment she was about to get, her boyfriend let it slip accidentally.

Do you know if she had normal results on tests done between the laser treatment and now?? If she hasn't gone to hosptial since the last time, it could very well be that they want to check on recent results. Why don't you ask her if she has received abnormal results again?

I'veasked her, and she says she hasn't had a smear since. Not entirely sure what the protocol is for abnormal smears as never had one.

I know it varies depending on where someone lives, but she really should have had at least one follow-up smear after her laser treatment and probably should have had a couple more between then and now to make sure she was getting normal results. At this point, if her results are normal, she might want to ask her doctor about having a routine check once a year since she now has a history of dysplasia.

I had laser treatment for precancerous cells. My next 3 smears were at the hospital then I was signed back over the my GP surgery.

I had 2 6 monthly smears then yearly after that for 5 years
I don't think it should be anything to worry about. It is incredibly common to have these cells and treatment for them and then no other problems

Thank you both for your advice. It's mademe feel a bit at ease now.

I had yearly smears after CIN 3 cells found. Plus 2 colposcopies to check out what was going on.

Sounds relatively normal to me ?

Ditty Puffylovett - I still get annual ones even though mine was 13 years ago! They were supposed to revert to 3 or 5 yearly after a few years, but I still keep being called back.
